Unilag Professor Awarded d Professorial Fellowship

Professor Tunde Ope-Davies of the Department of English and Director of the Centre for Digital Humanities, UNILAG has been awarded a 3-month Visiting Professorship Fellowship at the University of Hamburg, Germany. This fellowship, commencing May 2022, was awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation as part of its Alumni Sponsorship and Network programmes. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, congratulates Professor Tunde Ope-Davies on this fellowship and wishes him a successful stay at the University of Hamburg.

Nigeria’s first doctorate degree holder, Grace Alele-Williams, is dead

By Opeyemi Babalola  Nigeria’s first female university vice-chancellor and first female doctorate degree holder, Grace Alele-Williams, has died aged 89. Late Alele-Williams was appointed the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin in 1985. She was a distinguished Emeritus Professor of Mathematics education. The news of her death broke out on Friday in a WhatsApp messages shared on Queen’s College’s WhatsApp platforms, one of the Nigeria’s 104 unity colleges of which she was an alumna. Professor Babatunde Ogunnaike, Former Dean of Engineering at University of Delaware Dies
