Title of Position: Project Officer: AFRIQAN

Term: Two-year renewable

Key Objects of the Position: To help promote and develop the culture of quality assurance in African higher education by providing managerial and secretarial support to AfriQAN


  1. Provide administrative, logistical and managerial support for the AfriQAN network, notably in:
    1. Helping to organize activities which foster collaboration and linkages among quality assurance bodies in Africa and promote good practices in the enhancement and maintenance of quality higher education in Africa
    2. capacity building activities for quality assurance agencies in Africa, and agreed the AfriQAN work plans
    3. Assisting members of the Network to articulate standards of institutions operating in member countries
    4. Promoting the interests of Africa in other networks and international organizations with a related focus
    5. Ensuring the database of quality assurance experts is regularly updated
    6. Ensuring the website is updated regularly
    7. Supporting membership development
    8. Oversee the other operational aspects of the Secretariat
  2. Facilitate research into the practice of quality assurance in higher education for purposes of improving the quality of higher education in Africa, as linked to the needs of the network

Required Qualifications

  1. A Master’s degree in a relevant area like education and management
  2. Bilingual (English & French). Arabic and/or Portuguese will be an added advantage.
  3. Excellent knowledge of African higher education
  4. Strategic and innovative thinker
  5. Strong organizational and communications capacity as it pertains to network management

Desired Qualifications

  1. Good interpersonal skills
  2. Excellent networking skills
  3. Good team player
  4. Experience in quality assurance in African higher education is an added value
