Caleb U Students Posses Sterling Qualities – The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi.

Caleb University has brought social and economic development to Imota – HRM Oba Mudasiru Ayibade Bakare Agoro Olusoworesete II, Ranodu of Imota.

The Visitor of Caleb University, Dr Oladega Adebogun has constituted the 2nd visitation panel to the University. The panel which is made up of distinguished academics and administrators from various background is led by Prof A. O. Soladoye, FPSN as Chairman. The panel visited the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi in his palace as part of activities outlined for the panel.

Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie, distinguished professor of communication and media development, who led other Principal Officers of the University to the palace, spoke on the importance of the Visitor’s Visitation Panel and the reason for the visit, which was first to thank his HRM for his support to the institution over the years and to brief him about the presence of this distinguished academics in his domain and thereby solicit for his continued support to the institution.

The Chairperson of the Visitation Panel, Prof A. O. Soladoye, also thanked His Royal Majesty for the warm reception accorded members of the panel and the Principal Officers of the University. He told the Monarch that the Panel is not an inquisition but a necessary organ in the University system to review corporate governance of the University and make recommendations on how to make the institution better and uplift standards, learning and research of the institution to a globally recognized level.

Responding, HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, remarked that he is “very proud of the sterling qualities of Caleb University Students because they are exceptional in conduct and behavior” Despite the youth restiveness and cult activities prevalent in the country today, “I have never gotten any negative reports about Caleb University students involvement in cult activities”. Adding that the establishment of the institution in his domain, had greatly contributed to the development of Ikorodu in particular and Lagos State in general. He pointed out the humble nature of the Founder, Dr. Oladega Adebogun for his “laudable and noble contributions to education first as a teacher, educational administrator, proprietor and founder of Caleb University and as an entrepreneur of global repute, is worthy of emulation”

Eminent chiefs and distinguished professor who joined HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi to receive the visitors included distinguished Prof Kunle Ade-Wahab, Chief Kaoli Olusanya, Former Comissioner for Agriculture, Lagos State, Otunba Lamid Gbadamosi MNI, (Baba Oba of Ogijo Land) and Dr. Arigbede.

Other Principal Officers and members of the Visitation Panel in the entourage included – Prof Adedeji Daramola, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Mrs. Folake Okor, Registrar, Mr. Adesina Abubakre, Bursar, Mr. Josiah Adeyomoye, Librarian, Mr. Mayokun Olumurue, Deputy Registrar. Other members of the Visitor’s visitation panel are – Prof Kolawole T. Jaiyeoba, Prof Adewale Sunday Olumuyiwa, Dr. Abiola Tonade, Dr. Lateef Odekunle, Barr Segun Aje and Dr Taiwo Ipaye as the Secretary.

In a similar vein, members of the Visitation Panel and Principal Officers of the University where also at the Palace of HRM Oba Mudasiru Ayibade Bakare Agoro Olusoworesete II, Ranodu of Imota.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie, thanked HRM for his unalloyed support to the university as a great royal host. Also speaking, Prof A. O Soladoye, chairman of the Visitation Panel told the Monarch the purpose of the visit which is to review the university system and structure within its term of reference and not an inquisition.

HRM was delighted to receive members of the Visitation Panel and Principal Officers of the University to his palace saying “that the establishment of Caleb University in his domain by Dr, Oladega Adebogun, a renown educationist has brought big blessing, economic and social development to the area.”

The Royal Majesty who could not hide his joy spoke gladly as to why the establishment of the institution in his domain meant so much to him “The early missionaries came to Imota first when they came to this area but my forefathers drove them away, but in my own reign, a University is now established in imota, this indeed gladdens my heart”
